Welcome to Atlin, BC!
Atlin is a small community
found in the very northwest corner of
British Columbia
on the shores of
Atlin
Lake, the largest natural lake by area in the province. Established in 1898
during the Klondike Gold Rush, Atlin offers a glimpse into its past at the
Atlin
Museum, showcasing artifacts from this era. Other historic sights include
the
M.V.
Tarahne, once used as a freight vessel and to transport passengers. Today,
Atlin's appeal is mainly based on its pristine location in a remote wilderness.
Visitors and locals make use of the local
Tarahne
Park, offering several facilities including a baseball diamond and two large
playgrounds. Another popular area is the
Atlin
Provincial Park, with camping, fishing, and hiking opportunities available,
as well as a chance to view the
Llewellyn
Glacier, flowing into the lake.
Teresa
Island on Atlin Lake is a wintertime destination, providing cross-country
ski trails and views of Birch Mountain.
